Student Voice: My routine as an AIU online exchange student-Konstantin LITZENBERG, Philipps-Universitaet Marburg, Germany
Hello, my name is Konstantin, and I am from Germany. My home university is the Philipps University of Marburg (a great University, highly recommended). As you know, the time differences are relatively high, 7 hours to be exact. Thus, the day begins very early at five in the morning, equal to 12 AM in Japan. After I made myself ready for the day the first class begins. My lectures usually go from 5:30 to 11:15 AM. Afterward, I put some work into readings, assignments, or learning as well. That usually takes approximately another 4 to 5 hours.
As you can see, there is still plenty of time left for class activities or getting to know other people from different countries. Thus, I already got to know Aika and a lot of other very, very friendly AIU students during the TEDx Akita club, the Japanese language course, or specific meetings arranged by the RA office (parcel exchange).
There were also many opportunities to meet other exchange students from all over the world, which I enjoyed very much.
Even though it sounds exhausting to engage in some kind of activity after you are done with stuff for university, I still highly recommend trying it. There were so many valuable experiences that I would really miss if I had not at least tried them.
Of course, I was looking forward to studying for a semester abroad, especially in Japan at the AIU. But these opportunities make the best out of the situation.
