English Information about AIU’s 20th Anniversary Project & How to donate

Akita International University, 20th Anniversary Project
Theme: “Future possibilities of AIU cultivated by AILA (Applied International Liberal Arts).”

Target: 100 million JPY
Fundraising Period: March 2019-March 2025
Number of Donors: 460
Funds Raised: 61,692,455 JPY(as of September 30, 2024)
Progress Against Target: 61.7%

Purposes of Fundraising:

1. Donations will be used to support our students’ PBL activities.

    The knowledge our students acquir in the classroom at AIU will be applied to solve social problems in Akita and around the world in collaboration with our 200+ affiliated institutions in 50+ countries and regions. These challenges include issues like population decrease, depopulation, global warming, alternative energy sources, preservation of traditional culture and heritage, and local revitalization, to name a few.

2. Donations will be used to improve student services/support and to fund commemorative events.

    1. – To support students’ career development, AIU will enhance opportunities for interaction between? current students and alumni. Career development lectures and corporate information sessions will also be organized on campus.

 

    1. – Scholarships for both current and international students will be expanded.

 

    – A commemorative ceremony and other anniversary events will also be organized.

Tax Relief for Individuals:
The income tax deduction system enables donors to deduct the donation amount (less 2000 JPY) from their total taxable income, for donations up to 40% of total taxable income.

Tax Relief for Corporations:
Corporations can deduct donations over and above the allowable limit for regular deductible expenses.

 

How to donate

【Donation via Online Banking or a Financial Institution】
You can wire your donation directly to AIU’ s 20th Anniversary Project through your online banking service or by visiting a financial institution and using their ATMs. The beneficiary for the three financial institutions listed below is Monte Cassim, Chair of the Board, Akita International University.

1. Japan Post Bank, Branch number 229, Checking account, Account number: 0123389 for online transactions,
or kigo-bango: 02250-1-123389 for teller/ATM transactions.
2. Akita Bank, Kawabe branch, Branch number 261, Savings account, Account number 1042416
3. Hokuto Bank, Kawabe branch, Branch number 255, Savings account, Account number 8106203

If you wish to donate through Akita Bank or a Hokuto Bank, please download the special application form so AIU can cover your transfer fees. If donating via another bank, you will need to bear the transfer fees.

【Issuing a Receipt for Your Donation】
We will issue a receipt and snailmail it to your registered address once your donation is received. Please note that depending on your method of donation, it may take a few days to several months for the transfer to be processed. Allow a few extra days for receipt processing. Should you have any questions, please contact us at aiu20th@aiu.ac.jp.

*Please be aware that, for your safety, our university staff will never provide ATM operation instructions over the phone. If assistance is needed, please ask the bank’s staff directly.
